numbersMrs. Eaves class visited the animal shelter to see how many animals there were for adoption.  They counted 27 animals in all.  1/3 of the animals were cats.  The rest were dogs.  How many cats were at the shelter?  How many dogs were at the shelter?

The dogs were fed 1/2 cup of food twice a day.  How many cups of food would they eat in a week?

The cats were given 1 can of food a day.  How many cans of food with they eat in a week?

Jim had four number cards.  They were 2, 9, 4 and 7.  Which cards should he choose to make the largest 3-digit number?  Which cards should he choose to make the smallest 3-digit number?

If Jim subtracted the number that was the smallest, from the number that was the largest what difference would he find as an answer?
